    Double syphonic toilet set
    Hi
I have an old Ideal Standard Kingston toilet set. I know it is about 40 years old. This is a double siphonic type and few people seem to understand how they work. I have got a new set of washers from the sole remaining Ideal Standard recommended stockist. I have fitted the new set of washers and the toilet now flushes Ok. But I do have a problem in the set up as the toilet tank slowly keeps filling after the initial replacement from a flush. It appears that the syphon has not broken after the flush or perhaps there is a leak is in the washers that join the pan to the tank that holds the aspirator tube. A slow flow of water can be seen in the outlet at the outside manhole. This problem came to light when I had an enormous water bill last week showing a usage of about .9 cu meter per day which is three times expected. Could you please help me to sort the problem. I am aware that this is an old set but if I cannot fix it will mean replacing the whole suite with a new one which I cannot afford

Flush the line. Shutting down water can cause sediment to clog tank assembly. I have no idea about the Kingston, but I do know toilets. There has to be a way to open the water intake inside the tank. If so, then do this: shut off the water to the toilet. Open the intake and have a cup in your hand. Hold it over where the water will come out of, and turn the shut-off back on. Re-secure the intake. Flush, and see how it works. Tell me if I'm way off.
