    Water pump
I was filling my swimming pool probably to long for this old pump but, I have lost the prime in my pump. I tried one suggestion that I found, and replace the pressure switch. This didn't work. I have primed it many times the pump seems to be working but no pressure and the line is not blocked. Is the pump bad or is the well dry and how do I tell? Thank u

Hi, we really need more information in order to give you a definitive answer - what type of pump is it? Unfortunately fitting a new pressure switch is not going to cure a priming problem.
You say you are pulling water from a well, that, and the fact you are filling a swimming pool suggests you would be running the pump for an extended period. This raises the possibility that you have simply exceeded the recovery rate of the well - if so, you will have to give the well time to recover, re-prime the pump and carry on. However, doing this will cause the situation to repeat itself - if your pump is a centrifugal type you should be able to throttle the discharge, reducing the flow rate sympathetic to the well's recovery rate. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES use this procedure with any non centrifugal style of pump - if you are unsure as to what type you have, seek advice from a pump professional in your locality. Good luck, Mike Goody
