I have a judgement against me and the debt is nine years old. The problem is they are wanting 5,560 dollars and the debt was only about 2,500 dollars. It was a 1991 geo storm that got repossesed. I was paying on the car and it started acting up and I kept getting it fix. I could not afford it anymore so I let it go. They sold the car at an auction. I don't mind paying them but that is way too much.

WHy didn't you go to court and defend this claim against you. The SOL has long een expired.

Well after repo charges, after cost of the sell, after legal fees, and interest, yes double is about right for a repo'ed car.

If you had worked out a deal prior to the repo, they may have worked, or even prior to a judgement when they just wanted to collect the money.

But now that they have a judgement, and you did not go to court and fight it.
