Maintaining F-1 status, enrolled full time during summer?
    Hi,
I already have my H1b approved for Oct 2007. I'm now on F-1 status taking a Certificate program until Oct 2007. I started to be enrolled full-time this Spring 2007. My question is do I also need to be enrolled full-time during summer quarter? The school international advisor says that an F-1 student is eligible to take a summer vacation only if the student has been enrolled for 3 quarters full time. The problem is there're not many classes are available in the summer, and it's really hard to collect those 12 unit courses. Also I checked from USCIS website, sec. 8 CFR 214.2 (f) only says "An F 1 student at an academic institution is considered to be in status during the annual (or summer) vacation if the student is eligible and intends to register for the next term." Should I register full-time this summer? Or where I can find a written statement saying that it must have been enrolled for 3 quarters full time before taking a summer vacation?
Thanks a lot for any input.

The condition for that is that if the student, which I you, is eligible (which you are) and intends to (which you also are) to register for the next term. Since the condition is met, then your summar vacation prior to that is considered in status. I'd trust what the CFR says.
