    Voluntarily relinquish rights
My ex was not ordered in our decree, however now after 11 years my ex husband has convinced my son to move in with him. Now he's convinced he deserves the support. If I voluntarily relinquish my rights am I still obligated to pay child support?

Relinquishing your rights does NOT release you from your obligations.

All it does is make sure you have no legal rights to your child.

YES YOU STILL HAVE TO PAY CHILD SUPPORT!

My god, what is it with people not wanting to support their own kids?

Yes, of course you still have to pay, if the court orders child support.

Next it does not matter what your child wants, so you merely tell the child he can't live with the other parent. If you had legal custody given at the original separation, then it is still binding, and the child can testify in court where he wants, but it is still up to the judge.

But if the other party is given custody and if the court grants them child support you have to pay.
