How to transfer probation to another state
Hi, I have a drug charge that I am on the thing where if you go through probabtion successfully they take the charge off your record. I am clean and doing the right things going to school full time, working, I live in MI. my mother who is ill and needs help day by day has just moved to Florida and wants me to come also. Their is no work in MI and my fiancé has been laid off for almost a year due to the economy. I want to transfer from MI to Florida so I asked my probationi officer for the information I needed and he said that their was none. And really brushed me off. My court fees are paid although I still need to pay a little on the probation fees which I plan to do real soon. How do I find information on this, I really think this is the next step to better my life. Anyone that has any info would be real helpful. Thanks gymrat

Your probation officer has to orchestrate this with the new state and you cannot just do it yourself. The new state has to essentially agree to let you into their state - should be OK with minor drug charge. I am not sure about your state, however in some states you can also ask for early release from probation. If all of your fines are paid and you have served at leave half of your probation, you should be eligiable.
