I have a GE washer that goes through the wash cycle perfectly fine, then after the water drains out, it will not spin. You can hear noise, but no spinning. Then it will fill back up with water, drain again, but again, no spinning. Can it be the motor causing this, or possibly something else? I'd like to find out before purchasing another machine.

I have another GE washer on order right now, because I was happy with my machine while it was working. The belt on mine seems to be fine, but if you find the belt is the problem with yours, I will certainly change the belt on mine to see what happens. Please keep me informed. Have you tried opening the lid and closing it when this happens. A bad lid switch will cause this problem. Open unit up and check the lid switch. Unplug 1 lead to it and ceck for continuity. UNPLUG unit first. If that checks OK it may have a spin solenoid. Check it Post back with results
I bought a new belt ($15.90) for my GE washer and changed it yesterday. Well, it still did not work. I think it's a problem with the clutch or something more costly. I'm getting my new GE Monday, rather than put money into the old one. I'm still curious to here what the problem with yours is. Keep me informed. Thanks!!Quote:

I decided not to have my GE washer fixed. I picked up my new GE on Sunday. I bought one sight unseen , well I did actually see it on the internet from Bestbuy. It has less options than my old one, but I never did use the extra rinse or the permanent press and delicate cycles. The new one has the water level and temperature setting choices, along with only a whites and casuals washing cycle choice. It also has both bleach and softener dispensers. When looking for a new machine I was surprised to find so many without a softener dispenser. I don't always use softener, but prefer to have the option. The machine's cost was only $287.99 plus tax, on sale. This week the price is a little higher. In the internet add it described the barrel as either stainless steel or porcelain coated steel, but low and behold it's barrel turned out to be plastic like the old one. So far I've washed every type of laundry and am very happy with this machine. It's a GE Model #WBB20906WW. I would recommend it to anyone.:)Quote:

I did replace the belt, but it still did not spin. The timer assembly alone sells for at least $71.75. On the internet (Google) type in GEWasherModel#WWSR3090TAWW, then click on the sight Appliance Parts. Type in your model# again and they will show you all the parts of the machine and the price list. I purchased a GE washer model # WBB20906WW. It has less features than my old one, but I like it just the same.

Call the company and they'll tell you that that's the way it works.Bought a GE GTWN3000MOWS today 06/27/2011 and it didn't spin out the wash water so I called and they said it washes , drains ,no spin ,refills the water , pauses a few moments ,agitates a few seconds, then pauses again a few moments and then you have your final spin.Never in my life has there been a washer that doesn't spin out the wash water let alone not agitate the whole time it's rinsing.If this is modern technology then what's next !
