    Sofa Color
I just bought a beautiful home and am trying to decorate the living room. It has and open space concept and the kitchen and living room adjoin. There is a red brick fireplace that is seen upon entering the house. I have Monet picture hanging above. (Monet's wife in a kimono.)
The walls are burgandy and green. I purchased a large Karastan oriental carpet called Emperor's Hunt that is placed on the light wood floor. I cannot settle on a color scheme for my sofa and chairs. I like gold, but I am afraid that this will be too much against a burgandy wall. My husband likes leather, but I'm not convinced about that look. Can a fabric couch be integrated with leather chairs?
    Can you help, please?

Try a rust color. That would probably be the best color. Leather chairs are good with fabric.

Mixing and matching different textures is quite acceptable and very pleasing to the eye. Go to the paint store and get some paint chips, I know they aren't very big, but may give you an idea of colour matches. Red and gold go very nicely together, and you are right the burgundy is a little too strong for the gold.

I am a stainled glass artisan and have to be very careful of colour coordination (and texture because stained glass comes in many textures) at times, not wanting to make a stained glass panel too strong or too subtle, but inevitably I decide quite quickly what will work.

Good luck, your ideas sound just lovely.
