Correcting Concrete Patio For Screen Porch
I am in the process of having a screen porch built. The concrete patio for the screen porch was poured two days ago. Yesterday, we had a rain shower for approximately 35 minutes which left a water puddle on the newly poured concrete. The water puddle was from 1/2 to 1 inch deep and half the size of the concrete patio. The patio is located under full sun; however, after 24 hours the water did not dissipate.

Since I live on the southeast coast where we experience lots of blowing rain showers, I would like to know if this needs to be corrected before the screen porch is built.

If Your Going To Have A Screen Porch You'll Also Have Eves And Overhangs Which Will Make A Big Difference In The Ran That Can Get In. Also The Screen Its Self Will Keep A lot Out. One Thing You Can Do Is Leave A Gap At The Bottom Where You Can Sweep Water Out If You Had To. But I Feel After You Have This Built The Ran Want Be Much Of An Issue.

    Dear glavine,

I really appreciate your quick response in assisting me in resolving this problem. Your answer definitely makes sense and I am now more confident in going ahead with the screened porch installation on the newly installed concrete patio. Thanks again.

Is that what you have paid for? A concrete pad that does not drain? If that's what your happy with OK go on ahead with your plans. Remember every time you get a windy rain storm you can play in your puddles. I would call the contractor and get what I paid for
