Hi All - new to the site - so -HELP!

On start up - getting New Hardware Found window -

Last new hardware was a video card over a month ago -

Out of interest sent window on 'Load from Internet' route -

Window tries to download ' QoS RSVP' - finds it can't do it and asks for CD or 'Cancel'

Any ideas please?!

Hi,
You really don't need this, according to many sites found from Google.
To disable it means to Edit the Registry.
Be careful if you edit the registry, and only do what Microsoft suggests in the following:

click on Start/Run, then type in REGEDIT.
click on Go or OK.
You are now in the Registry.
Click on the + sign to the left of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
This will expand the heading, so you can see all the categories.
Keep clicking on the + sign to the left of the following:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Tcpip\Parameters\interfaces\interface\QoS
When you come to QoS, then left click on it on the left side, and look to the right.
You will see REG_DWORD.
Right click on it, then left click on Modify.
Type in 0 (which is a 0, like 0,1, 2, 3, etc), and click on OK.

Value Type: REG_DWORD
Valid Range: 1 or 0
Description: Setting the entry to 0 disables RSVP on the entire interface. A setting of 1 enables it.

This will disable it, and allow your computer to act normally. All the above is from Microsoft, in steps that I hope you can follow.

PS; If you wish to learn what the RSVP etc means, go to Google and type in the QoS RSVP. You will find many links explaining it. Stay away from Microsoft's explanations... you have to have a Doctor's degree to understand it!

Had a quick look in Google but haven't spotted anything to do with the 'Found New Hardware" window opening. It isn't opening every time I switch on but next time it does I'll give your suggestion a bash.

But, when you go to Google, don't type in "new hardware found".
Type in QoS RSVP.
If you want a laugh, go to the first Microsoft site it gives!
A link from that site will give you the Registry Edit steps I gave you.

OK, I have exactly the same problem as Jonegy, when I start up my computer XP... it says "new hardware found QoS RSVP.. blahh blahh...

i can get to this far in your instructions...

from here I don't have any options for "\interface\QoS" i just get a loads of numbers like "{61820C7F-1F2D-4EC6-AC52-4AA4C5CE956B}" I get 5 folders like that... nothing else?

If I'm being stupid, I'm sorry but I'm pretty sure I followed your instructions.

Please help me, or anyone else that reads this...

Try doing as search in the Registry on Qos and see if you find the keys. Or Google QoS RSVP for info.

I've googled it loads and the only relevant thread I could find on it was this one!

I'll try and do a search in Registry... how do I do that without breaking my computer?

I think you need to search more carefully among those links. But to do a Registry search, use Edit>Search.

Find new hardware wizard continues to pop up log on. Not sure where to address this in the HKEY area when doing the regedit. The wizard is trying to find a Lexmark T630 printer which has been set up as a local printer.

A computer newbie using regedit is a dangerous thing.

Why not just uncheck it in the properties of the network card?

Why not just remove the printer? Or change the Port its associated with.
