Aluminum busbar is very popular in switchgear. However, I suggest that you confirm the type of metal that is typically used, such as the alloy and hardness.

Also, you will need to confirm and calculate the ampacity of aluminum bar.

If you are building new switchgear be aware of the interrupting rating of the switchgear and the bracing that will be needed to achieve the particular AIC rating.

If you are modifying existing switchgear, or a new product for that matter, you may need to have the product tested by a third party firm before putting it into service.
