    Google Earth funny/odd stuff
Man I love this app! If you have not tried it I suggest that you NOT, as you may become addicted.

We use it to plot where we've lived and visited. It's fun family fare to look through them on occasion and recall those fun times.

It's also cool to find oddities.

I've got 2 that come to mind.

    1.
    32°22'2.81"N, 117° 5'26.10"W
Seems to be a sinking ship!

    2.
    40° 1'33.86"N, 83° 4'41.16"W
My brother in law on the roof!

If you've got some goodies, please share.

My son loves Google Earth. I tell my family that if they feel like someone is watching them - it is probably my son checking out their address on Google earth.

Any idea how old the photos are? Our neighborhood shows the local Wawa under construction and it is at least 3 years old.

Also, why are there so few cars and people? Is most of that filtered out?

You can verify the date of the image from areas by checking the DigitalGlobe options in the Layers window on the left.

I too have wondered why so few people. Look close at beaches, for example, and it seems like they're a bit blurred... as if the people were removed. Look, though, at NYC and you can see plenty of people.

My brother in law uses this for getting driving directions. He is a pilot so he is used to seeing things from the air. It is funny how he does it.

Why is it all so blurry to me? Am I doing something wrong?

Some locations come in better than others. Most, though, comes in very clear for me.
What location are you looking at? I'll try it to see how clearly I can view it.

My son was able to locate Kelley Barracks in Germany (where my husband was once stationed.)

Guess it has limitations, as with everything.

I guess it supports only most of the western world! Does anyone know why?

I was looking at my address. Now, I went back to my old address in Alaska and that came in VERY clear. Heck, I could almost look through the windows. LOL

I've not noticed that. Are there big areas where you've found the resolution poor?

Yeah, do you have a any idea why?

I guess because my area is so rural the resolution is poor.

Go and have a look at the white House, as they have "moved" things around.
This was by the request of American Homeland INsecurity ;)

Man! I read this over two hours ago and have since been googling the earth! If I didn't have to work today, I'd still be 'push-pinning' all my spots.
That addiction disclaimer should be in all caps and bold letters!!
