    Daytime activities for autistic preschooler
Does anyone have any good activities for an autistic 3 year old? Ever since school ended he just wants to walk around and do nothing all day and he's driving me crazy! Also, I need to update his toys. Any ideas for good developmental toys would be great! Thanks! :)

Take him to the zoo, park, do arts and crafts to stimulate him.

What types of arts and crafts would you recommend? He does not have much attention span, understandably, since he's 3.

Oh a fun one is shaving cream on the kitchen table. They can "paint" pictures all they want all over the table and the shaving cream is a dream to clean up.

Another one, if he likes hard boiled eggs, or anyone in the family for that matter, is to boil some "dinasour eggs" once the eggs are boiled and cooled, the shells are cracked and dipped (soaked for a few minutes) in a Kool Aid solution. Once peeled they look oh so cool!!

    Good ideas have been given.

Also ask your school for toy suggestions - schools are inundated with catalogs - so many that reviewing them should be a full time job.

Have you ever contacted the National Autistic Society? Or the organization, Autism Speaks?
