My daughter is 12 years old. She has always had headaches, so it is not a new thing. Not everyday headaches, but headaches. She often expieriences headaches that develop around noon. And they go away at night. She had glasses before and then didn't wear them (she had them when she was 8 years old). She has very little pressure in the back of her head, and headaches most of the time around her eye area. But the weird thing is, is that during the winter she didn't get them. Last summer she did, and now this summer it started up again. She says that when she goes on the computer and gets off her eyes feel dry and she has a slight burning sensation. She is often worried why she gets headaches so often. She doesn't always get very much sleep. What could this be? My husband says that where she is getting them are near your sinuses and that she might be getting sinus headaches. Can anybody give me a hint on what to do? Or tell me what it is?

Also the headaches are weak, the ones that have very little pain, but you know they are there when you shake your head. She said the most that hurts is her eyes, because after the computer, they feel strained. Could eye strain be the cause of her headaches. She normally got them after school and after using the computer, but other times too.

I would get her eyes checked again, and make sure that it ISN'T a change in her prescription.

I get those types of headaches when I take my glasses off and forget to put them back on, then try to focus I am near-sighted... I can see my computer fine without them, but then forget to put them on for meetings, and strain to put them in focus.

If closing her eyes for a while helps the headache, I would certainly expect it to be related to that. By "a while" I mean for at least 10 minutes.

I am, however, not in the medical field. I just suffer from headaches (and migraines!) as well, and that's what it seems like to me.

If it is just in the summer and is sinus-y then perhaps it is some sort of hayfever? You could try antihistamines and see if this changes the frequency.

Also try keeping a headache and food diary in case her diet changes in the summer although food triggers tend to be migraine related you never know.

Definitely get the eyes checked as Synnen says. I am also a headache / migraine suferer and she is so right about that. Also it never hurts to check eyes regularly - they can diagnose so much by the look of the back of your eyes- its more than an eyesight test.

Another thought if they develop around noon is it possible they could be linked to low blood sugar - I often get headaches if I do not eat in time. If she is having lie ins due to her being off for summer it could be she misses her normal breakfast time which can trigger headaches. I have heard this is a common one and I find it happens to myself quiet often.

As Templelane suggested, keep a food diary... This could be a food allergy. Many allergies manifest themselves in headaches.

Hayfever with a touch (related conjunctivitis), is one possibility-does she have weeping/reddened eyes? If not then (as others suggest) again, eyes need checking.

I also thought glaucoma (high intra-ocular pressure). Probably unlikely though

Her headaches are gone. I think it was just taking her a while to get used to the summer food cycle change. Thank you for all your help!

She may have allergies. But in any case she should go back to wearing her glasses... her eyes are straining to see whatever it is she is looking at and that is not good for her eyes.
