    Clogged drains in the toilet
I am on a septic system and it is an older system. There is a problem with it. The toilet and the bathtub meet in a T not the Y that it should be (according to a plumber). I want to by-pass the plumber because I have to get the landlords approval to fix it. He is a cheap person and I wanted this fixed. I need to remove the toilet to fix the problem I am having now. Can you tell me the way to reset the toilet? I am going to remove the toilet and auger out the lines. I am told that the clog will be about 25 feet from the toilet. The snake won't go through the toilet so I have to remove it. Any help would be appreciated.

Cheap guy or not you should not be doing this work in a rental. Tell the landlord to get it done or you are moving out due to unsanitary/safe conditions. Do all of this in writing and keep a copy for yourself. By the way, the T is only about 3 feet from the toilet, that's what is more likley. 25 feet downstream is likely outside the house near the tank, maybe the tank is your problem, no let me correct myself, landlords problem. Avoid taking out the toilet and rod down the roof vent or from a clean out below. Look in the basement or crawl for a clean out.
