    Absent Father
I have a 4 year old son whose father has been absent his entire life. Meaning no child support. He does call occasionally but he doesn't give me one dime for my son. He says he loves my son and what not. Is there a way I could terminate his parental rights?

You can not terminate parental rights solely for non payment of child support sorry.

So why has he not given you a dime, how many times have you taken him to court to find him in contempt, how many times have you reported him to child support enforcement

I wouldn't terminate his rights. Then you lose all financial support. Tell him to be a man and take responsibility for his actions. Take him to court and make him man up. Then if he wants a part of what he is paying for, then he may become the man he should be!

You can't "terminate his parental rights", unless another man adopts your son, with the father's consent. You can go to court to get an order for child support and he can likewise go to court and get an order for visitation if he wants. He still has his paternal rights, even if he doesn't exercise them and even if he doesn't fulfill his corresponding parental responsibilities.

I think as your first option you should talk too this dude next time he calls your home etc and tell him how hard things are and that if he love's his son as much as he claims then he will grow a pair of balls and start paying towards the up keep of his own child.

If that options fails then you need to drag him to court and make a judge make a ruling, that should help him remember to pay for the up keep of his child !
