    Pressure treated wood
I have been reading up on the toxicity of pressure treated wood, and am aware of it's dangers, I recently had a deck built with the "new" PT wood and am concerned.
    1. How toxic is the new material to touch?
    2. Should this be replaced with redwood, and in fact only used for non-human contact situations?
    3. Can the pressure treated wood be painted or stained to prevent chemical transmission?

    Thanks.

... how toxic it is but one is supposed to wear gloves when handling and not to breathe the particles when sawing or performing other operations on the wood. The wood can be painted, stained, etc. and will have some effect on keeping the chemicals locked in (wear a mask when treaing PT). Maybe you can provide the name on the wood and it can be found on the Internet. Redwood is a pleasant alternate to PT and if you are really concerned, replace it. Personally, I never use PT where it can be touched after the construction phase is complete.
