Hello, A stranger threw a big rock through my window with an attached threatening letter. They also left a threatening note on my car and front door. I notified a police because I have no idea whom this person may be. The police suggested that I speak with my rental office about breaking my lease because it appears as though I cam not safe. Can I break my lease?

No, and I can't understand a police officer telling you that. They know better normally and as a rule don't give legal advice.

Now you can talk to them and ask them, but no the police need to investigate, but this has nothing to do with your lease.
