92 Civic DX SRS light issue after clock spring snafu.
    Hello all,

... got a 92 Honda Civic DX Sedan.

A friend replaced my combo switch a few months back and after that, every time I turned the wheel all the way left, you could hear the clock spring grind. After about a week, the SRS light was intermittent, after another week or so, it was on all the time. I subsequently learned about how to R/R the steering wheel correctly myself. So I took it off and put it on correct... grinding noise gone... SRS light still on. So I figure the cable on the clock spring is hosed.

Got a replacement clock spring from salvage yard ($10)... plan to install tomorrow.

Will it be necessary to reset the SRS light after the install? I've read all over the net about how to reset the SRS light on Civic's with the connector by the fuse box... and I've actually seen that connector in a 95 EX and I think a 93 LX (yellow connector in dummy housing in drivers side fuse box)... however, I don't have that connector on my 92, so I'm not sure where to do the reset? Or is it possible that the 92 doesn't have a reset that I can jumper or needs some other procedure?

Thanks in advance for any advice...

Re: 92 Civic DX SRS light on after clock spring snafu...
Well I put in the new clock spring today and the SRS light doesn't stay on now, so I guess that was the culprit. I actually pulled the old clock spring apart and was able to see the break in it.

Next, I get to deal with an intermittent CEL code 8 - TCD sensor. I'll put that one in a new thread sometime soon.

    Thanks,

    KJ
