I came to US on March 31 through L1 Visa and I now I am in US Payrolls.And for every payslip I am paying the following Taxes.

OASDI EE Federal
Medcar EE Federal
W/H EE Illinois(State)

If I stay in USA more than 6 months and less than 12 months (1 Year) then I will get the money that I paid for Taxes please let me know

I have already answered your question via email, but I am posting here for the general knowledge.

You will get NOTHING back from Social Security and Medicare taxes. This is because you are being paid under the U.S. payroll. To be exempt from these taxes, you must be paid on the payroll from your home country.

The percentages you pay as an employee is:

- 6.2% for Social Security on up to $97,000 of your 2007 pay.
- 1.45% for Medicare on ALL of your 2007 pay.

The percentage on your state and federal income tax depends on the amount of money you earn. The more you make, the higher the tax rate. The tax rates for federal income taxes start at 10%, then go up to 15%, then up to 25%. There ARE higher tax rates (28%, 33%, 35%), but I suspect that you will not make that much.

Your state tax rates depend on the state in which you work. Some states (Texas, Washington, Nevada, Florida, Alaska, Tennessee and one other state whose name eludes me now) have NO state income tax. Other states have rates as low as 1% or as high as 15%. The three highest state income taxes are in California, New York and Massachusetts.

So, if you are getting paid on the U.S. payroll, it does not matter how long you stay. You will pay these taxes regardless
