88 Honda Civic - Engine stopping.
So far this is an intermitent problem. It's scary as heck though. I will be driving down the freeway and them, BOOM, the engine cuts out. Electricity is still running. The car shifts, and it seems that everything is fine save that the car isn't running. I try starting it, it turns over, runs for a few seconds then immediately dies. . I check my fluids monthly and had /just/ filled it with gas so these can't be the problems. Also, it isn't overheating, the gage doesn't even get to halfway from C.

I waited about, oh, 10 minutes each time and then it started fine and would get me home. BUt this intermitent problem's a little scarey. I noticed it did it once while I was idling as well, but thought maybe I'd tapped the clutch or something similar.

I read another post here: https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/cars-t...art-17121.html

But I don't know if this could be a similar problem. If this is an easy home fix or an easy buy parts and install fix I'd be great if someone could give me an idea of that. Any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Here's what I would do:

. Replace the Ignition Control Module (igniter):

I would also replace the rotor, while you have the distributor open.

    . Replace the coil:

Here's how to replace the igniter yourself:

    . Replace the Main Relay:

It's likely this will fix the problem.
