Someone also said that the HKDRV DRIVER is probably an Intel program for the support chipset and that it's NOT required..
My laptop computer had it installed once and is trying to start it
But cannot find it... but I want the error box GONE... how can you do this?.
Load up MSConfig (Start >> Run, type in "MSConfig" and press enter/OK). Check the Startup tab for HKDRV. Uncheck it if it's there. Sounds like the program didn't uninstall properly. You didn't just delete the program folder I hope.
This seems to be the CD driver for Toshibas. See here: http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic16073.html
I don't SEE any 'hkdrv' under the start-up on msconfig...
But I DO see a 'hkcmd' file that IS checked... are they one in the same?
Should I uncheck it?. How is that done?
I've tried that process before and upon every re-boot it goes into
"selective startup" without all the drivers... why is that?
Also, I went to DRIVERGUIDE.COM and downloaded what appears to be a SYSTEM FILE FIX for the remedy, but I'm cautious:
WHERE would you PUT that specific file in Windows?
In the 'System32' folder?. or just the 'System' folder?
Ignore what I said for now. Scott's answer seems to be right. Did you read the link he put up?
Try going to the Toshiba web site. You should be able to download all the drivers for your model of PC from there. That will have the CD driver you need to remove this message.
I can't find it here on the Toshiba site... unless it's a PART of a download package...

(click on for the EXACT TOSHIBA SITE)
Would someone LOOK at the list of public downloads here
And verify which one it is please?
Thanks much!

THIS box pops up on the screen every time I re-boot the laptop..
This occurred AFTER I upgraded my OS from XP HOME to XP PRO 2002..
I KNOW it's the CD-ROM driver; just tried a data CD and it won't pull up the files...
Would anyone assist here in the above referenced posts?
