If a place of employment forgot to take a garnishment on a previous paycheck, can they legally take two off the next paycheck?

If served with a garnishment order an employer is legally obligated to forward the amount garnished from each paycheck. If an error was made on one paycheck, I doubt if it would be illegal ot make it up.
