Rec'd notice from 14 years ago.
I need some help regarding knowledagble on the statute of limitations etc. [ I think] and I thought I'd throw this your way.

I just rec'd a notice of over payment from the Region of Waterloo [ON, Canada] for a social assitance overpayment [of 186$] that happened in June 1993. I am positive I paid this, but they have no records of any correspondance to that effect - nor do I have any records over 7 years - taxes, bank etc.

I know their files are flawed and missing data, as this was delt with, and it took them 14 years to get to me on it, so it's a "he said - she said".

What are the laws for this? What to do?

Can you provide me some information?

    Thx
    Russ

I don't have an answer to your question. But, I think that your question is a very valid one. By my responding to it this way, I am hoping that it gets more noticed on this site because since I have responded to it, it will get placed more towards the top of the list of questions to be answered.

I am hopeful that someone who knows Canadian law will be able to provide an accurate answer for you.
