    Ceiling Fan Light Failure
My Hampton Bay ceiling fan with fluorescent light has been working for several years.
Light failed but existing bulb works in other fans.
Is there something inside that can be fixed so light will work?

Possibly bad pull switch or loose connection. I take it you tried to put another known good bulb. Look inside socket with flashlight, could be bad socket.

    Hello Lynn.

Many times the switch on the light will go bad not making contact when switched. You said fluorescent light a true fluorescent light has a ballast that heats the filament to light the bulb. I don't remember any fan light kits coming with fluorescent light but there is always a first.

If this is a built-in fluorescent light, and not a CF, it is probably a bad ballast. Hampton Bay fans had a lot of bad ballasts. Call them and see if they will send you a new one. Or take the fan to Home Depot and exchange it.
