Honda Civic 94 won't start until check light goes off
    Hello

I'm recently having trouble with my civic GLI starting. When I turn the key the orange check light comes on and stays on for a minute or so before you hear the fuel pump run and the light goes off. If I try start the car before the light goes off it just cranks and won't fire. So I'm forced to wait for the light. This problem started when the car had a water leak and the passenger side got wet when it rained. Because of this the main relay was replaced so that is new. The car runs fine once started, but starting it can be a real drama. I find fiddling with the computer in the passenger side some times helps. So I recently removed the computer and earthed it with a cable from a screw to the body the car. Dryer weather seems to shorten the waiting period to some extent. But I can't just turn the key and start the engine straight away like I use to.

    Any Ideas?

    Thanks Heaps

Getting caught with a window down during a summer storm is a common cause of ECMs failing. You likely will need to install a new ECM. Consider a Cardone Remanufactured ECM from O'Reilly Auto Parts, with a lifetime warranty. Try cleaning the main ECM ground on the thermostat housing, but I really recommend replacing them every 120,000 miles or 10 years, whichever comes first. I drive older cars, too, but I insist on "like new" reliability and performance.
