How do I balance a ceiling fan?
We hired an electrician to install a ceiling fan in our dining room. He had to move the electrical approximately a foot from the light fixture that was removed (to center the fan in the room). When we turn on the fan we feel like we are having an earthquake. The electrician says he has done all he can do. He has also thrown away the box and any instructions. Harbor Breeze fan.

Wow, that's not good. Did you pay him?

    Here are balancing instructions:

Good link and info from above. The higher percentage of fan wobbling I have seen is
From bent brackets. Some times you can stand back, and with fan on low. Observe blade
Tips. Look for blade out of wack.
If he moved fan with blades attached. Probably bent. It is more work to remove blades,
It is preferable to remove blades.

They make these small square weights that are double faced taped and you put them on the top side of fan blades to balance how far out or in on the blade you have to experiment as well as picking the right wobbly blade but it does work simply. Until fan wears in time and needs more or different areas to weight down

A can does not "wear out" especially in ways that require balancing. The instructions above work better than the little weights, but you can use the weights in conjunction with the instructions.
