Moved from Zoology to Dogs.
I am not a dog expert, hopefully Lamban will pop in soon. However, I believe, and I may be wrong but one of my pups had parvo, that the time is about 6 months. Again, hopefully Labman or Rubypitbull will pop in soon.
I remember reading parvo can live in the soil for up to a year. Check with your vet though!
Opinions vary on the subject from between six months to one year. It probably depends upon how exposed the areas are to sunshine, rain, etc. I would err on the side of caution and wouldn't bring a new pup home for at least a year. If you have an older pup in mind that is fully vaccinated you should be okay after six months, but I say there are no real guarantees.
Hope this helps.

We had an extensive discussion of this starting last November, see

One of the points in that thread is getting an older dog. At 5 months you still have some of the puppy cuteness, but one of the parvo shots is more likely to have taken. Even if it still catches parvo, you have a lot more dog and reserves to fight the virus.
Bleach everything ,even the bottoms of your shoes. It is everywhere your puppy had accidents or got sick.I would wait if it were me,still bleach everywhere.
