    Washing machine not draining completely
    Hello,

My washing machine discharge is backing up a little bit. It's not the water itself but it is the soap. We're using just a tiny bit of soap at a time so it can't be too much soap. The discharge hose runs from washer, to almost the floor, into a 1 1/2 inch PVC pipe that is linked to the utility tub drain. Is it just that the drain can't take the force of the water? Any way to stop this back up?

    Thanks,

    Brian

    Hi Brian,

With the new more powerful pumps a 1 1/2" trap and stand pi[pe isn't large to handle the volume put out by the pump.
Not too many options open here. (1) Upgrade the san tee, trap and standpipe to 2" **or** (2) purchase a 1 1/2" compression fitting,(see image) and make the hose water tight to the standpipe. . Good luck, Tom,
