Dear hel desk;

We just replaced our old washing machine with a new one and every time the machine
Drain the water it overflow from the water outlet and I have a 1 1/2 inch water waste line.
What is the best way to resolve this problem?

With the new more powerful pumps, ( is the new washer a Maytag?) a 1 1/2" trap and stand pi[pe isn't large to handle the volume put out by the pump.
Not too many options open here. (1) Upgrade the san tee, trap and standpipe to 2" **or** (2) purchase a 1 1/2" compression fitting,(see image) and make the hose water tight to the standpipe. There is a third option t6hat one of our askers with a new Maytag that did the same thing. The Maytag company replaced her washer with one less powerful and we haven't heard from her since. Over two years ago I purchased a new Kenmore washer with a drain overflow problem. The old washer (only 5 years old) drained fine. Our drain pipe was 2 inches. We thought it was a clogged drain, but it wasn't. We had to temporarily have the gray water exit through the window. Yesterday it dawned on me that the old washer drain hose had a hard plastic "U" where it went into the wall drain pipe; the new hose did not. I went to the store and purchased a new hose with a "U" in the end. Evidently, besides helping the hose stay in the drain pipe, the "U" slows down the waterflow. PROBLEM SOLVED!
