    Foundation sleeve seal
The 2004 Florida building code requires any pipe passing through a foundation or under a footer to be sleeved by a pipe 2 pipe sizes larger or install a relieving arch. I'm installing a 3" pvc dwv under my footer fully surrounded with soil through a 4" thin-walled sewer drain pipe that will pass as my sleeve. Question is : How do I create the waterproof seal that is required between the drain and sleeve? Thanks for sharing your knowledge...

If you're bringing it underneath the footing, then you do not need to worry about the waterproof seal -- The portion of the code stipulating a waterproof seal is in regard to piping passing through the footing or foundation.

As for the sleeve, you do realize that 4" piping is only one pipe size larger than 3", right?

Wrong! PVC pipe size goes like this, 3, 3 1/2, 4, 5, 6, etc. so 4" is two pipe sizes larger. Now, if it had been 4" under the foundation he would have to go to 6 inches. Regards, Tom
