OK let me refraz this question. I've been being told my case workers that since my ex. And I weren't married before or after our son was born, and now that we are no longer together that until I have some kind of job to start paying child support that I have no rights as his father. What I'm trying to find out is, can someone help me understand what I'm supposed to do. Please don't talk about going to court because for one I don't have the money for that and 2 as far as I'm sitting now with no job, and being that I've been looking for the past 4 months and can't find anything in this area. The courts won't look at me kindly or in my son's favor towards me.
You were told by the caseworker? I thought you said your ex reported that to you.
I posted the entire text of the pertinent Ohio law for you yesterday, copied directly from their government website. If it ain't in the revised statutes, it doesn't exist.
You need to get everything formally ordered in court. There is no other way. Search online for "father's rights legal aid" as well as "Ohio legal aid" for resources.
OK so as long as I'm on the B. C. I have rights then. Well atlest that's what I got from what you sent me. If I'm wrong please tell me.

OK now that I'm going to FL here in July as long as I'm paying child support everything will be OK and I can't be hit with child abandanment right?
You need to demonstrate your desire to assert your rights and live up to your responsibilities. Keep a journal of every phone call you make to your child, every attempt at setting up a visit, every dollar you send. Only send money by check or something that can be tracked, never send cash. Even without a court order you can do your best and the courts will appreciate that. Ensure you send a certified letter with your new address and contact information to your ex including email addresses and phone numbers and keep a copy... again so she can't say she doesn't know where you live or how to reach you and that you just took off.
I understand. And thank so very much I have been so worried that I'm doing the wrong thing by going to FL to try to get on my feet so that I can do what is needed from me to my son. Thank you for your help.
