    Breaking a lease
My daughter's roommate broke her part of a year lease,is my daughter responsible for her portion of lease if she stays?

    Hello barb:

Probably. But, your daughter can sue the roommate for her share.

You NEED to read the lease very carefully. If there is a single lease that they both are signators on, then your daughter is probably responsible for the entire lease. So she either needs to get a new roommate and/or sue the old one. If she has a separate lease with the landlord, then she might be OK.
