If I have got my periods back am I fertile and ovulating
In September 2006 came off the depo injection after 5 years and got my periods back in april07 (quiet quick to some woman) If your period is back to normal (cycle ranging from 22-25 days)would I be fertile and ovulating if my periods are back how there meant to be. Is there 2 depo injections you can have and why are people saying there bad when I had no problems since being on it.:)

A lot of women suffered horrible side effects from depo ( I actually lost my vision due to occular migraines produced from the shot) And Even more women have had serious trouble conceiving after being on it.

Some women have absolutely no effects from the shot. They can be on it for years, get off, and get pregnant right away. HOWEVER, many women are not that lucky. The people who say it are bad, are the people that speak from experience in the matter. I for example hate the shot with a passion. I went through so much because of it, including losing half an inch of my height, and a full shoe size, from the bone density loss. (I won't go into all the other problems I had from it, as I would be here all day, and have posted it before) now, just because your periods have returned, does not mean that you are ovulating. However, your body could be completely back to normal and ready to go. It is usually suggest that you wait 6 months before trying to get pregnant, after being on the shot, just so that the shot will have enough time to get out of your system. I would suggest waiting at least that long. It took my body 12 months to get back to a symbolance of normal, and 18 months to get pregnant.(after being on only two shots) for your sake, I hope that your body has no ill effects from the shot, and that you really are fully recovered and have no problems in getting pregnant. Good luck to you. (ps. Make sure you are taking a calcium supplement, as the depo shot really depletes your stores of calcium. )

I, like you, had no ill side effects from being on depo. I loved it actually. I was only on it for about a year and a half and came off it because I knew my hubby and I would want to start trying for a child in the near future. My doc wanted me on another form of because and put me on the Nuva ring, to which I had bad effects (lumps in breasts). I quit taking that after only three months, and we used only condoms. I had a normal cycle immediately. We started trying to conceive about 6 months after stopping the ring and it took 6 months to get pregnant. You've been off depo for over 6 months, you may be ovulating and completely back to normal. Even if everything is back on track it can take a year or more to get pregnant, so just be preparred for a possible long road. I would suggest charting your bbt to find out if you are ovulating. This can make it a bit easier to get pregnant. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
