    Prison sperm.
I know this will sound odd to all of you but my husband is in prison and I desperately want to conceive. If he is given a condom to use, how long will the sperm last in the condom for me to try and inseminate myself. I know what you guys are thinking... crazy but all I want to know is how long the sperm will live. In case you guys are worried about the well being of my future child, don't be. I am financially very well off and my husband is in prison for a crime he did NOT commit; I love him. We do not want to wait to conceive. Thank you for your comments.

Why can't you visit him and actually make love with each other. Do you have private time with him?

If you can not do it the natural way, then I would say it is not a good time to conceive.

If he is innocent then it should not take long for him to come out.

As unfortunate as it is, this is just simply not true.

Back to the question, in the open air, you may only have a few hours. However, under the right conditions, they can live up to 7 days. But their fertility decreases constantly.

In the proper conditions. Sperm can live in the women's body for approximately 5 days. Any other purpose or any other calculation is pointless.

I do not understand what you mean by this... my question is simply, how long will sperm survive inside of a condom?

He is saying that the sperm needs to be in the right conditions on the inside of a woman's body to properly thrive. I don't know a way to have the sperm live via a condom... Don't you get conjugal (sp?) visits? Is that just something in the movies?

I think I saw a program once that suggested a turkey baster. This was about a lesbian couple who got a doner and was attempting a "do it yourself" kind of thing. Basically the doner was in one room and produced a specimen, then it was carried over to the bathroom and she did the insemenation herself.

How are you going to get the condom from him? No need to answer if you are incriminating yourself... I only ask to find out if the prison is going along with this or is this having to be done discretely.

Do you research and find out the exact best time of the month for you to get pregnant. Because if you plan to do this all yourself, you better hope you are lucky. By all means still give it a shot but you are working against many odds here.

I was going to suggest getting a "pee cup" from the nurse there so that it would at least be sealed but an unwrapped condom would probably be the easiest way to get it as far inside of you as possible.

I think in the sperm donor places they use sterilized glass cups, then you could just use a turkey baster as emland suggested..

I have no clue how long sperm lasts in a condom but I agree with Dr. J, Emland, and Angel!

Don't condoms have a spermacide that kills off the sperm?
Also how can you get it to you don't they inspect everything that's goes to and from any inmate?
Don't get me wrong if it is possible and you can do it with out getting in trouble then go for it what right does any one have to say you shouldn't have a baby.
Good luck to you hun I hope it all works out

First condoms are counterban in all prisons except for those that allow sexual vistis. And to the surprise of many here, most US states and most federal prisons do not allow sexual visits with their partners who visit.

Most visits in most prisons are done in public rooms, and sometimes in outside visiting areas all public and they are suppose to be properly supervised. As one who has worked there some couples sneak into closets or behind a bush and try to have either sex or oral or hand enjoyment. If caught of course the imate is put into lock down and normaly the visitor will be banned from visit for an amount of time.

There are a few prisons that will allow sexual visits but they are rare in the US.

So you would have the issue of how to get him to get you the sperm, and how to hide it, and how to get it into you, within a very short time. Not going to get that turkey baster into the prison.

And as funny as it seems, just being not guilty is not even grounds for an appeal. You can prove after someone is convicted that someone else did the crime, but unless you can find an issue in the trial, you may still not just get out of prison.

I don't think all condoms have spermicide in them... am I correct?

Desperate does not always precipatate into something good.

Yes, not all condoms have spermicide.

Good luck... if it works, you better come back and tell us :)

Just a thought but couldn't he use a ziplock bag or something?

Don't worry Dr. J I will let all of you know if it works! Thanks for your support. Jesus Helper, you are right desperation does not always make of something good but put yourself in my shoes. Young, wealthy, educated woman with a husband behind bars for a crime I know he did not commit. I have my whole life in front of me and I'm not sure if it will be with the man of my dreams or not. Having his child is something both he and I have dreamed of doing for a long time. Desperation and hope are all I have got at the moment.

Hummm... ziplock might be a better alternative... the really small ones! Good thinking!
