My honda won't start. When I turn the key the I get a check engine light that stays on for a few seconds. I have a new battery and have power to lights and radio. I'm not sure if it's the starter because I don't hear the typical clicking sound I've heard in other cars I've had in the past with starter problems. Could it be anything else? Please help.

My car 91 civic did the same thing. Not the typical starter noises when it goes out. Till today it wouldn't start at all turned it over and dead. My son came to give me a jump and nothing. He took a hammer and tapped lightly on the starter and then the car started. So I suppose it is the starter. My daughter did the same thing and it was her the starter, it would just act like it was going to start but wouldn't. Starter cylanoid or wiring, so he is going to replace it. Starter about $69.
