    Brown discharge
Hi... I am a 16 year old girl & I haven't had my period this month I am only 2 days late but still it is weird I am never late. Just last month I started using birth control. I have been sexually active & have used the withdraw methed & I know it doesn't work but I am on the pill so it won't really do anything will it? Anyway it is really creaping me out & it can't be a sign of pregnancy if I am on the pill can it?

If anyone could help me great

    THANKS

A missing period is a symptom of pregnancy. Usually the first symptom.

Now, did you start using the pill exactly as directed?

This may be your body adjusting to the pill. To ease your mind, please take a pregnancy test using first morning urine.

I agree with J_9 your body takes a little bit to get use to the pill. J_9 correct me if I am wrong, but I think you need to be on the pill one month before it becomes effective as a birth control method. I know you are on the pill, but I would also recommend using condoms, or another form of birth control also. Some women do get pregnant while on birth control. You are 16, don't take the risk by taking the pill and depending on the pull out method. Look at J-9's pros and cons to the pull out method.

Bekah, you are mostly correct in that it takes approximately one month for the pill to be fully effective. However, I believe there are some new pills out now that become effective much earlier. I am 650 miles from my texts so I am relying on memory.

Also, many women do get pregnant while on the pill, even if it is taken religiously. I have 2 sons who are "pill babies."

So, a second method of birth control is always advisable.
