Can your machine even see the wireless network ?
Is DHCP enabled on the router ?
Does the machine already have a staic IP set ?
For Xp, click Start,Run, Enter CMD, Type- ipconfig/all.
You should find it there.
Depending on windows version could be something like winipcfg, or msconfig.
What version do you have?
Startmando,
NOT Msconfig as this has NOTHING to do with networking!!
WINIPCFG is for older 95 & 98 boxes.
Xp pro - I'll give that a try- Thanks, Cash
It is possible that your Wireless NIC is not functioning properly since the software is trying to search but you wireless NIC is not picking up anything!
Just make sure that your wireless hardware is in working order;)
He didn't say he had 95,98,Xp. I know now it is XP PRO.
I know MY Laptop can find my Wireless IP address in ipconfig/all. Like if I changed default ip address, and want to get to router setup page. I don't have to reset, and lose settings.
Sorry if I am reading wrong.
Can't help with XP pro.
Ip address does have a little to do with networking. I assumed Msconfig was older version of ipconfig.
Sorry.
I am a complete idiot with computers but I am having the same problem but don't understand a word you are saying ( must be an age thing )
