Is Something Wrong With My Dog?
My dog is really hyperactive she likes to play a lot and eat and she absolutely loves people no matter who they are! My dog will run up to you every time you go outside in the afternoon but during the day if you stay at home she will sleep and sleep and sleep but not when it is warm. Since it is winter it has been really cold and I have noitced that my dog is sleeping a lot more then normally. My dog will be turning 3 (Human years) in November. Is it normal for her to be sleeping more during the day and in winter?

You don't say what breed. It is important for Labs and other breeds used as service dogs to go, go, go when required, but flop down and spend half the work day lying quietly at their partners feet. Note, dogs do not read breed descriptions and often fail to follow them.

As she approaches 3, she is maturing and will settle down a little. If she is less active, you may need to reduce her food a little to keep her lean and healthy. For a good system to evaluate her, see LongLiveYourDog.com - Life Span Study - Rate Your Dog Adjust her food as needed to reach the ideal body condition.

Both my dogs and cats sleep more in the winter than in the summer months. I do not worry as long as they are eating and drinking and going to the potty. :)

Hey Sammie! How's it going! I'm not really sure why your dog does this, but I'm pretty sure it's just a natural thing that every animal does. Do you like to sleep in your warm bed when it's winter? I do. I love to sleep in and just relax. (When school isn't on) I find it nice and relaxing. It's the same with animals to. Hope this answers your question! Say hi to Elly for me!
