Just an idea. It may be getting old and worn out. I have two CD drives on my computer. One of them is very old, but it is the drive that I use to burn CD's. Most of the time when I press the button on it to open it, it won't open. I have to just barely touch the button and then it will open. Also, most of the time, it takes it a long time to read what is on any CD, if it reads anything at all.
If you look at the front of the CD player, there should be a tiny hole. People are supposed to stick a very small, pointed object in that hole to get it to open. That might work for you.
I've tried to small hole in the front of the drive it did not work for me, also I noticed that the light in the front of the drive does not light up at all, even when I start up my computer. A while back I was having trouble with it closing it would just pop open at the start up and would not close.
Probably time to replace it. But it may not be getting power so you might want to check the power cable to it.
I also noticed that my cd drive where I usually listen to my audio cd's and burn my cds won't read anything. It will open but it won't read anything. I went into my computer once I inserted a cd and the drive won't even show up.
