I know some foods are gassier than others, but it doesn't seem to matter what my husband eats he has excessive gas. He is 74 so maybe this is normal for his age? Other than a bad heart and Barrets Disease he is in fairly good health.

It could very well be his gall bladder. Gallstones/gall bladder problems can cause frequent gas that you have never had a problem with before.
