I am moving the bathtub and toilet drains on my concrete slab and need to know the standard distances from the wall for each drain. I believe that the toilet drain is 12" but have no know idea as to what the bathtub would be. Thank you.

... combos are generally 10" but then if you are moving them you must have some idea from the position they were in. Here's more info and detail from a tub manufacturer:

These are measured to the center of the pipe and are average measures.
1 1/2" from the front plate. (plate= the 2 X 4 on the floor the studs nail into.) 15 1/4" from the side plate. Some tubs differ on the side measures so check with the tub you're planning on installing. Good luck, Tom

... manufacturers spell out a 6" x 12" rectangle under the tub. Why so large? Does this have something to do with the access panel and is one really needed when working with concrete slabs?

Hey George,

This is the hole the trap will set in and connect to the tub waste that can extend beneath the floor line. Sometimes it's necessary to "tweek" the trap over a bit to line it up and you can't do that if it's cemented in. And we make the hole wider then 6". as a rule 10 X10". Regards, Tom
