"local only" with both LAN and WLAN
Hello everyone! I've read about a lot of people having network problems with Vista and only getting "local only" and I have that problem too only I also have it even with the network cable connected! I've tried three different networks (at school etc) but I can never connect to the internet.

I have disabled ipv6 and tried a lot of things but nothing works.
When typing ipconfig in cmd I get this:

    Windows IP Configuration

Wireless LAN adapter Wireless Network Connection:

    Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
    Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address. . : 169.254.XX.XXX
    Subnet Mask.. . : 255.255.0.0
    Default Gateway.. . :

    Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

Media State.. . : Media disconnected
    Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :

Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 11:

Media State.. . : Media disconnected
    Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :

Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 7:

Media State.. . : Media disconnected
    Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :

Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 13:

Media State.. . : Media disconnected
    Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :

Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 17:

Media State.. . : Media disconnected
    Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :

I have no idea what this means but maybe you do?

About a week ago everything worked fine but not now.

I'm getting desperate ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED!

    Thank you!

It appears that either the cable is not connected ("Media disconnected ") or your NIC is defective.

Ok, I'm sure the cable was connected but I don't know what NIC is? How can it be fixed?
