We have windows that no matter how much you clean them they look smeary
Hi, abbydog1!
Windows where, please? Also, what are you presently using to clean them?
Thanks!
What are you washing them with? I like straight white vinegar, followed by wiping them down with newspaper - no rags, no paper towels.
Why is this posted under computer operating systems? Are you talking about Windows on your computer?
?
That's what I would like to know too, Judy! abbydog1 also posted the same question another time and I sent a Visitor Message to let the person know that I had answered so they would be more likely to return while they were on the site.
Thanks!
Wrong forum. :)
We have used windex, bon-ami, vinagar, windex for outside glass, mr. clean eraser, vinager water and amonia togeather, spray9 , avon bubble bath, baby shampoo. The windows are exterior facing east
The windows are not so much dirty as they are streaked. We get them so they look clean but then when the morning sun hits them they look terrible. Windows are about 15 years old thanks fred
Hey judykaytee don't know how I wound up on the wrong site. Guess its got something to do with being new. Have tried vinegar and water but never straight will give it a try. Thanks abby1
Please pay more attention to the forum you post under. I moved your question from the Windows forum Computers and Technology. That forum is about the Wndows operating system.
Its possible the glass is imperfect or damaged. Have you tried using a squegee?
Hey scottgem I made a mistake and posted in the wrong place that don't make me an idiot
Excuse me? Yes you made a mistake. I pointed out that mistake and corrected it for you. No one was making you out to be anything more than careless.
Sorry guess I took it the wrong way thanks for your help
When cleaning windows, use white vinegar and newspaper to dry.
Dry one side of window wiping vertically and the other side horizontally. This will show u which side is not getting clean.
Chuck
Thanks Chuck will give it a try and let you know how it goes
Hi again, abbydog1!
If you try everything that's been suggested here and are still having trouble with the cleaning, would you please post what you think the substance might be on the windows that might be making them difficult to clean?
Thanks!
I replaced a window because no matter what I did I could not clean it - I didn't understand why one window would be "etched."
Hi clough its hard to say what it is on the windows. Its like a film that at one time I thought it might be between the glasses but the swearing pattern changes each time we try to clean the window. At times it looks like we have them clean but next morning when the sun hits them you can see its still there. Its looks like it was cleaned with a slightly greasy rag?? thanks for your interest fred
Are the windows double-paned or single-paned, please? Also, I have a single-paned leaded glass picture window in the front of my home where I can never get one spot that's about four inches in diameter "clean". It always appears to have a "fog" on it. I think that it's from the time that the glass was made and polished.
There are a couple of other things that I've wanted to suggest for cleaning, but I wanted to wait until all other avenues of why they might not be coming clean and the things that have already been used to clean them have been revealed and tried first.
Thanks!
Hi Clough. The windows are double thermal pane glass and are about ten years old. Thanks again
