    Atkins Dieters
Do you find that some foods are better than others at promoting weight loss? Sometimes my weight will stay constant for 3 days but EVERY TIME I eat at sashimi (raw fish) for dinner, I will lose one pound. I guess it's because sashimi is 80% protein. Do you find this trend as well.

I tried the Atkins diet and did lose weight. Once you reach a certain plateau in your weight loss it can be a day or two to lose weight. I would not keep eating raw fish though. Cook it first due to any worms that may be present in the raw fish. Also with the Atkins diet they caution you not to weigh yourself every day. I would go by how my clothes kept getting looser and looser versus what the scale said. Watching the scale can totally undo the program's benefits. Look at how your clothes fit instead. If your clothes are getting bigger and bigger and you need smaller sized clothes, then you are losing weight in the right places.

When I did Atkins I did eat a lot of protein and that is the secret. Cutting way way down on the carbs will help your body burn off the excess fat but eating too much protein for an extended period is not good for your body. Also losing weight too fast is not good for your body. Remember, you put the weight on over a period and to successfully take it off and keep it off will take some time as well. Don't get too carried away on how short a time it takes to lose a pound rather concentrate on revamping your eating habits and stick to them. The maintenance part is the hardest part as you must be conscious of the now of the situation since you have a new body weight to deal with.
