    Baskerville
For four days my eight year-old Somali cat Baskerville has behaved strangely. He hides in cupboards or behind things. One knows that a cat in pain thinks it is under attack and tries to hide from the supposed predator, but in such a case, of course, takes the predator with it. Also, though, he goes to the food bowl, starts to eat, but then dashes away as if there is something terribly wrong with it. Could he have a mouth injury or infection? Has some accident frightened him? (There has been no sign of anything fallen or overturned.) It seems early for early-onset dementia. Yet while he seems nervous and generally unhappy in the house, outdoors he appears normal, coming to me with his tail up in greeting. I have even seen him eat a mouse with, apparently, no problem.
