This post is about games, but it concerns a older PC that I'm currently using as the "kids computer", so I'm asking in here. I asked a similar question a couple of months back but didn't find a solution.
I have several games that I downloaded and purchased from Reflexive Arcade, but I'm not using them much on my computer, so I wanted to give them to the kids, to use on their computer. Their computer, which is my old computer, is a Pentium II with a win98 operating system. I transferred the installation files to this computer, and installed the games, but they do not run. When I try to run them, I get the blue screen of death. Apparently, the old computer meets or exceeds all the minimum requirements for all the games, so loading and running shouldn't be a problem. I've run some diagnostics on the computer, and while slow and sometimes buggy, everything appears to be operating normally. I realize that many of these games can be downloaded and purchased from other sites besides Reflexive, and the same trial-version games downloaded from sites other than Reflexive seem to work fine. But since I've already purchased them I don't feel like shelling out money for them all over again.
Any ideas about what's going on here, or suggestions on things I should try?? The old computer is running the original version of win98, should I try to install win98 SE on it to see if that helps? I have XP on the new computer, but the old one is not powerful enough to take that, and I'm not ready to purchase a brand new computer for the kids just yet. Anyway any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Oh by the way I have communicated with Reflexide Arcade directly as well, and they were no help!
