Loss of appetite, strong abdominal pain
OK, so here's my deal. Sorry it's so long, but I haven't been feeling well for a very long time and need some advice since doctors have no idea.

In February I started getting very bad abdominal pains, they would be very sharp and wake me up in the middle of the night if I was able to sleep at all. Over the next few months, more symptoms came up. I was unable to eat anything spicy (I love hot wings!) and when I tried to drink ginger ale to maybe help my stomach, it felt like I was drinking acid it burned my stomach so bad. I experienced a loss of appetite although it did not make me lose or gain any weight. So while I was never hungry, I knew I had to eat and would try but after one bite of something I became very full. This abdominal pain covered my entire abdomin, not just lower and to a certain side. It was made worse while walking, which was horrible because I am in college and walk everywhere on campus. I remember walking painfully to class only to sit painfully due to pressure on abdomin from sitting, and always feeling nauseaus even though never vomited.

In May my doctor sent me to a digestive disease specialist and started ordering x-rays and I also had an upper GI, small bowel follow through done. Through all of this, there were not able to diagnose anything and said everything looked fine. I have been feeling fine for past 2 months (my doctors never contacted me after being in hospital for tests) so I just forgot about it. Now my abdominal pain is back and keeps me up at night. I usually sleep on my side or stomach but the pressure is too much I can only sleep on my back. I have not felt sharp pains, but it is again painful to press on my enitre abdomin, it is not centralized anywhere. I haven't been feeling hungry (when I feel OK I have a huge appetite).

Since May, I have moved an hour away from my doctor, so I don't know if it is even possible to go for check ups again. (I've only had my doctor for year and half, I am college student under parent's insurance so doctor is by my parent's house)

I wanted to get some opinions on whether I should even consider going to doctor again when my pain used to be a lot worse and not able to help me. My parents don't want me to switch doctors since they have all my history of it, but I am thinking a new perspective could be important.

    Thoughts?

All your parents have to do is call your doctor and tell them that they want them to send your medical history to 'your new doctor' and they usually have it done within 48 hours from the time she calls.

Ya but I think it's just my mom's thing. I told her when I moved out of the area I wanted to change doctors and dentists, my dentist actually gave me the name of a great dentist by me, but wouldn't let me. Said since it is her insurance, she makes the choices. But at this point, I couldn't care less. I am 21 and I think she is still having trouble accepting that her only daughter is an adult. I guess I will just have to sit down with her whenever I am in town and tell her I'm switching doctors no matter what. I'll be living in this area for at least another year and half while I finish school so it would get to know my new doctor well. And I am only on one prescription.
    Thanks for the help.

    Dear Kolkay,

My Dad had the same problem and much later they found out he had a peptic alser in the duodonam. Please get an endoscopy done. As for this everything was normal for him until he really lost appitite and then started throwing up down to only soup and water...
It takes months but it is really going down if you don't do anything. Please get it checked correctly.
    Good luck from PRG
