    Do I have Insomnia?
OK. I'm 13, I think I have insomnia. I can almost never get to sleep. I can almost never get back to sleep if I wake up during the night. And I just don't feel like a normal sleeper. My brother, we think, has it, we think my mom has it. So I don't know if I do. I have talked to my parents about this before and they didn't do anything. I would like if you didn't tell me to just talk to them, because I know that and have tried it. Please tell me if you think I might have it. Thank you!

The only way to truly know is to have a sleepstudy done. So you need to talk to your parents about it and your doctor and get evaluated properly. It can be any number of things including stress (that your not aware of) or eating habits etc. Get checked out by a professional.

I have always had trouble getting to sleep. I discovered it helps to eat a banana when have got into bed, or some plums. They contain serotonin and that helps me to drop off. I also have a little tub by my bed with a hankie with lavender oil. If I can't (go back to) sleep, I take it out and put it under my nose. That usually helps getting to sleep, and staying asleep most of the night.
