I see. This is something you should definitely discuss with your doctor. You won't find any legitimate answers online, since no doctor will volunteer info online. Since you have a doctor that did this procedure, it's best to talk to him/her about any side effects you're experiencing.

It really depends on what caused your pneumonitis and what the treatment was. Not all cases are the same.

The incident took place 5 days ago, I don't recall the name of the treatment but I was discharged 2 days ago

Without knowing the exact treatment it's impossible to tell. It could be anything from an allergic reaction to a virus.

Possibilities are indeed endless. I'm hoping for the best though. I'm due back on duty in 2 days time but how to endure this pain.

You need to contact your doctor who knows your history rather than relying on strangers who have no clue as to your history and treatment. I am a Registered Nurse and cannot, in any way, advise you one way or another. We don't have any doctors who are members of this site, even so, without knowing your treatment plan, they could not advise.

I can't imagine doing anything else, I love my job. I will keep you posted as soon as I have feedback

Following up with your own doctor ASAP would be a wise course of action to help you recover from this incident, and deal with the pain, and any other complications you may have.

I have a lot of contact with firefighters an EMS, you have my utmost respect!
